I started this petition because it is important to maintain the safety and health of teachers and students in these trying times. My school district decided to give students two options, to allow students to continue online learning, or students could choose to go to school and learn there. At first I was skeptical because I thought that going to school in-person would be dangerous because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but my school district had told students and parents that they would maintain cleanliness for the students, even though my school district said that I still chose online school because I felt safer. It was then brought to my attention from my friend that in-person school would function the same as online school with the only difference being that students would be in classrooms, I immediately thought about the teachers and how horrible it must be for them, and the fact that online school and in-person school are conducted the same just with a different location made me think: why was there an in-person option in the first place? I believe that in-person school will do more harm than good for everyone involved. First the teachers that are the cornerstone of our education have lives outside of school and they should not have to risk their lives for their job, and even though students chose to go to in-person school I still believe that they should be safe as well, so I please ask for your help to make all classes virtual until it is absolutely 100% safe.
