Enter into a contract with Gateway Parks for the Eagle Sports Complex

The Issue

I am signing this petition in support of the proposed snow, bike, and wake board park by Gateway Parks. This addition to the park will be an amazing asset for the community and we urge the city to complete a contract and seize this opportunity.

Those in opposition have not demonstrated reasonable concerns that have not been addressed by the developer. This operation will create minimal noise and light pollution, uses minimal water (less than two sports fields), provides amazing recreational opportunities for families and youth, and creates a cash flow for the city that will fund our parks and recreation programs in the future.

To pass up on this opportunity would be a huge mistake. It requires no financial investment from the city, provides one million dollars of infrastructure, rebuilds the skate park, and provides a yearly cash flow. All this for just seven acres of land without any disruption of the existing amenities or free opportunities which are currently available to the public.

The city has invested heavily in infrastructure and parking to create the existing sports complex. To leave things the way they are would be a huge waste of money since the maintenance of this infrastructure will be extremely expensive and unjustifiable without a level of use to justify the expense. The proposed project by Gateway Parks actually uses the existing infrastructure effectively and provides the funds needed to maintain the park. To reject this proposal and stop the development of the park would equate to an incredible waste of public funds.

Again, I strongly urge you to enter into this contract for the benefit of the citizens of Eagle and the entire valley.
