We the undersigned, petition Mayor and Council of the District of Maple Ridge and representatives at BC Housing as follows:

Maple Ridge citizens oppose the rezoning of 21375 Lougheed Hwy. from its current residential use to institutional use. We further oppose its development as a homeless shelter by BC Housing. We may support a treatment facility or other purpose built building should an independent needs assessment survey support this. This entire process must be transparent and include full public consultation. Unfortunately, the city has moved to acquire this land without any meaningful and sincere efforts to obtain public input.

This property is immediately adjacent to a daycare, a veterinary hospital and in the vicinity of hundreds of families. Wrong solution, wrong location.
