Mandate Use of Black Wheelie Bins by Councils & increase amount of waste taken.

The Issue

Our community is groaning under the weight of our own waste. We are ordinary people, with important responsibilities - work, caring for children, illnesses, looking after the elderly - but yet, finding ourselves having to manage the misuse of rubbish. This is a sight too harrowing for many of us who are simply trying to manage our day-to-day lives without being surrounded by litter scattered by foxes and other critters. You can imagine the sheer amount of waste an average person generates in a week, and multiply it by thousands: it is indeed a revolting sight.

The worrying factor is that this situation could escalate due to the reduction of resources for waste collectors. Our streets are littered, our people are exposed to rotting waste, and potential sources of diseases from bacteria formed in non-disposed waste. We need a system where more waste is taken away and nothing is left behind. This is particularly important in a society where our population exceeds our current waste management capacities.

Hence, I call for all councils to mandate the use of Black wheelie bins, except in areas where the terrain makes it inaccessible to do so, to also increase the limits of waste taken. Black wheelie bins have proven to be an effective solution in areas where they have been consistently used. They provide a sturdy, hygienic, and efficient method of waste disposal which also protects the waste from being scattered by animals.

Investing in and improving our waste management services is critical for the wellbeing of all citizens - from our youngest to our eldest. It's a public health necessity. Let's stop reducing funds for our waste management services and instead prioritize the cleanliness and health of our communities.

Sign this petition to make black wheelie bin usage required by all councils, and advocate for better waste management services in our communities. Increase the limits of waste taken. We have a responsibility to the cleanliness and health of our environment – it's time to act!
