Mandate the "Pay What You See" Rule for All Transactions in Denver

Mandate the "Pay What You See" Rule for All Transactions in Denver
The Issue
The “Pay What You See Act” is a proposed bill aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in pricing for all consumers, employees, and businesses in Colorado. This bill would make it illegal for businesses to add any fees, surcharges, taxes, or mandatory and voluntary gratuities to the prices displayed to consumers. What you see on the menu, price tag, or advertisement will be exactly what you pay at the register—no surprises, no additional charges.
The City of Denver has one of the 10 highest minimum wages in the country and is on track to be the highest in the country since it is tied to the CPI. However, this fails to address discrepancies between hourly positions, especially in the restaurant industry, where “front of house” and “back of house” employees within the same company can be paid vastly different wages. By eliminating tipping, all businesses must pay everyone fairly and price their menu items accordingly.
By supporting this petition, you are advocating for a transparent pricing system where all employees and consumers benefit from fairness and competition.
