Mandate the No Limit Self Reporting Act for Fairer Credit Reporting Practices

Mandate the No Limit Self Reporting Act for Fairer Credit Reporting Practices
The Issue
As an ordinary consumer, I find the current credit reporting practices disturbingly skewed. Many times, good standing transactions I have made don't get reported. One notable example is when I paid off my vehicle years ago, but this major feat of financial responsibility was not reflected in my credit score. It felt as if it never happened.
This issue stems from the fact that all three major credit bureaus in the United States, namely Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, along with other entities, hold near complete control over our credit reports and seemingly serve businesses vs. the consumers that keep these companies in business. Companies often fail to include or recognize prompt payments such as mortgage payments, rent, utilities, payday loans, and financing agreements on consumer goods, even when we, the consumers, can provide proof of these payments.
I believe that consumers like me should have the right to self-report our financial obligations without limitation nor cost and should be reflected accordingly. It is our personal transaction history, as such, we should have unlimited access to the right to report all of our transactions, just as if we defaulted on our business agreements, we will be reported by the companies that service us. The ability to independently verify, and report our transactions by proof of payment due date, payment amount due, payment paid date and what payment processing merchant was used to complete payment and or means of payment the business accepted payment from i.e. financial institution (bank), cash app, prepaid card, check or money order etc. Giving consumers this ability is the right thing to do for Americans and could potentially make credit reporting fairer and more representative of our actual financial behaviors.
As such, I am advocating for the enactment of the "No Limit Self Reporting Act". This Act aims to give consumers in the United States the power to self-report financial obligations, providing they can substantiate their claims with solid proof of payments and relevant dates.
Join me in urging our rule makers to level the playing field. Consumers are at the heart of the economy, and our consistent transactions deserve recognition. Let's help instantiate the No Limit Self Reporting Act and take a massive stride towards fairness. Please sign this petition and support our fight for consumer empowerment in the credit industry.
