As a Christian, I have often felt the absence of my faith's representation in our shared public spaces. In cities like Cape Town and Johannesburg, where vibrant symbols represent diverse identities, it is crucial for us Christians to have our faith represented as well. This is not just about religion; it's about identity. Christianity is not merely a belief system but forms an integral part of who we are.

In South Africa, Christians make up approximately 86% of the population (Statistics South Africa General Household Survey 2018). Despite this significant majority, there remains a lack of visible Christian symbols in public areas such as parks and squares. This petition seeks to address this disparity by advocating for the inclusion of Christian posters, crosses and other symbols in these spaces.

This initiative aims to foster a sense of unity among Christians and promote inclusivity within our communities. Just as other communities receive visibility and recognition through their respective symbols - be they flags or monuments or painted crosswalks - so too should Christianity be acknowledged.
