Mandate Speed Humps and Adequate Signage Installation on Edgeview Avenue, Trussville
The Issue
The lives of my children, myself and the lives of our friends and neighbors are increasingly being put at risk by the relentless traffic, speeding and property damage as the result of vehicular incidents on our street, Edgeview Avenue.
Just within a stretch of 50-75 yards, our personal property has been damaged; my driveway and yard was recently driven through, my mailbox damaged and car parts found as a result of the negligence of drivers using our street and two of my nearby neighbors' mailboxes have also been wrecked/damaged. I have personally witnessed the reckless endangerment of lives with excessive speeding and even the passing of moving vehicles on our very narrow roadway and I have even seen a truck pass my children's school bus, with my documented/reported concerns fallen on deaf ears.
Edgeview Avenue, has become an accident-prone street with (what I fear) potential for fatalities if this matter isn't addressed urgently. I will be speaking tomorrow evening (TH. 12/19) at The City of Trussville Council Workshop/Meeting at the Annex at 5pm and will be demanding action to ensure the safety of its residents by installing a minimum of two speed humps and proper signage, including speed limit and bus stop signs that our street is lacking. Proper signage and speed humps have been proven effective in reducing accidents caused by speeding in residential areas. As residents of Trussville, we seek immediate intervention in order to curb the imminent harm posed by the current road safety condition.
For the safety of our lives, our children, and community, we cannot idly standby. It's high time that the City of Trussville takes action. Please join me in pushing for safer streets on Edgeview Avenue by endorsing this petition, supporting our request at the Council Meeting 5pm TH 12/19 if you are available or writing an email to the below if you have your own concerns or story to share that would support this cause.
