Mandate Schools to Notify Parents About On-Campus Weapon Discoveries and Expulsion of offe

The Issue

The safety and well-being of our children are at risk in the very environment where we expect them to learn and grow - our schools. K-12 schools are increasingly becoming sites where weapons are found, posing a severe threat to our children's safety. According to a survey by the National Center for Education Statistics and the Bureau of Justice Statistics, there were about 90,000 students ages 12-18 who reported being afraid of attack or harm at school during 2019 [National Center for Education Statistics]. This fear also hinders their intellectual growth and academic performance. We must rise for our children and fight for stricter school policy. We demand that all K-12 schools must immediately notify parents or guardians when they unearth weapons on campus. Furthermore, the student who endangered the lives of others by bringing the weapon should be expelled. Let's protect our children by pushing all states to enact this crucial policy. Please sign the petition to ensure our children are safe and not living in fear at their schools.
