Mandate School Branded PE Kits in all Northern Ireland Schools instead of Uniforms
The Issue
The need for a considerable clothing reform in our children's daily educational setting is long overdue. As a parent living in Northern Ireland, and the current cost of living crisis, I feel this is an important issue that needs addressed. The impacts are felt in our wallets and embodied by our children who are being subjected to outdated and uncomfortable school uniform standards. Blazers, trousers, skirts, tights, and shirts are not just outdated, but also uncomfortable for children on their long challenging days of school.
It is time we introduce a solution that lends itself to the comfort of our children while retaining a level of specificity and decorum unique to each school – school branded PE kits. Not only do these uniforms promise comfort, but they also have the potential to be more economical for families. According to ROC.uk.com the average cost of school uniforms in Northern Ireland is £173 for Primary Schools and £378 for Secondary Schools (not including extra, such as PE kits and stationery).
By mandating school-branded PE kits in all Northern Ireland's educational institutions, we cater to comfort for the children and affordability for the families, while still maintaining smart, specific school identity.
Therefore, we fervently implore the Northern Ireland Department of Education to enforce the change of school uniform policy to favour school branded PE kits. This is about comfort, affordability, and progressive educational practice.
Please join us in this movement and sign the petition, for the sake of our children and future generations in Northern Ireland.
