Mandate Remediation of Mold in Property Located at 3877 Via Isla

The Issue

For two and a half years, my son lived in a property where he was unknowingly surrounded by an insidious danger: mold. As a result of his exposure, he suffered a nearly fatal reaction, a tragedy that could have been prevented if the house had been properly taken care of. His illness persists, and we fear it could be lifelong. The tragedy that befell my family is due to the negligence of the property owner of 3877 Via Isla, who despite our pleas, has refused to take responsibility and remediate the mold in her property.

An environmental report solidly recommends mold remediation for this property. Around 30% of houses in the U.S harbor some form of moisture damage and mold, according to the Journal of Property Management. Insidious mold has potential to cause a myriad of health issues, ranging from mild allergies to severe lung diseases, as discovered by the Institute of Medicine. No family should needlessly suffer the health consequences of living in a mold-infected environment.

This is a call to the County to intervene. We implore you to mandate that the property owner at 3877 Via Isla cannot lease the premises again until she executes the remediation. This is imperative to save prospective tenants from the life-threatening hazards of mold exposure. Please sign this petition and join our fight to protect our community's health and well-being.
