I live in a neighborhood where the conditions of our streets are not just unclean but also pose a threat to the health and wellbeing of the local street animals. Many of these creatures, innocent dogs and cats, suffer because of the unhygienic and unclean conditions of our streets. The hazard of non-biodegradable plastic waste, particularly polythene bags, has devastating impacts on their lives, as they often ingest these harmful substances. 

According to a study conducted by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2015, nearly 90% of seabirds have ingested plastic, with similar risks faced by street animals who live amidst our littered streets (Source: Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences). It is not only an ethical obligation for us to ensure the safety of these animals but it is also our social responsibility to maintain our public spaces clean and hygienic.

So, we request our local government and health departments to implement necessary measures, such as regular and thorough street cleaning, to solve this problem. It is the least we could do to protect the animals around us and to purify our environment.
