Mandate Regular STD Testing for OnlyFans Content Creators

The Issue

I spent seven years in the professional adult film industry, where mandatory STD testing every 28 days was the norm. Today, that testing window has shortened to every 14 days because the industry recognized how urgent it is to catch infections early.

Even with strict testing protocols, outbreaks still happened.

From 2004 to 2009, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health documented over 2,400 cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis among adult film performers. A 2012 study found that 26% of performers tested positive for either chlamydia or gonorrhea within a three-month period. Performers were also found to be 10 times more likely to contract a sexually transmitted infection than members of the general public.

When a performer tested positive for HIV, the industry would immediately shut down all production. Comprehensive testing and contact tracing would begin to prevent further spread.

I vividly remember being terrified, praying I hadn’t contracted HIV. Those were real risks even in a system that had strict health and safety rules.

But now, platforms like OnlyFans allow creators to produce and trade explicit content with zero health regulations. There is no requirement for STD testing at all.

No oversight. No accountability. No protection.

This isn’t just a danger to creators — it’s a threat to our entire nation.

Without mandated testing, preventable infections like HIV, chlamydia, and gonorrhea can spread unchecked. OnlyFans has millions of users and creators. This is a massive public health hazard.

As a wife and mother, I am deeply concerned for the future.

If we don’t act now — if we don’t federally mandate STD testing for those profiting off sexual content — we could face a new wave of HIV and other STDs that impacts not just creators, but everyone.

I fear for when my children grow up, start dating, and think about marriage.

If we fail to address this now, the consequences will stretch far beyond the internet.

I’m calling on lawmakers to take action:

Require mandatory STD testing for all individuals creating and trading explicit content for profit.

Implement federal health and safety standards for digital adult content platforms.

We must protect public health. We must protect future generations.

Demand Health Standards. Save Lives.
