As someone who values cleanliness and has health issues, my recent experience with Airbnb was shocking and heartbreaking. I discovered mold in my current Airbnb, posing a serious risk to my health, and possibly to others as well. This disturbing incident sparked my resolution to bring about change in the system.

Every Airbnb should be required by law to undergo professional inspections every six months, meticulously checking for bugs, rodents, and mold. These inspections should not just be cursory glances weaved into cleaning routines, but thorough and meticulous checks, performed by licensed and certified professionals.

This isn’t just about providing a clean, safe place for renters, it's about preventing serious health issues. Mold, bugs, and rodents can pose significant health risks. According to the World Health Organization, dampness and mold in homes can cause respiratory symptoms, allergies, asthma, and immunological reactions.

In addition, if bugs, rodents, or mold are found by a renter, a full refund must be mandatory. This way, renters' rights are safeguarded and Airbnb hosts are incentivized to maintain cleanliness and safety in their properties.

It's time for Airbnb to step up and take responsibility for the welfare of the people who use their platform. It's time to put health before profit. Sign this petition to mandate professional inspections for bugs, rodents, and mold at all Airbnb locations.
