Mandate Re-Voting for PTO Board Positions Due to Lack of Proper Notification

The Issue

As an active member of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), I found myself blindsided by a secretive voting process for the PTO board. Many fellow members and I, who were interested in running for board positions, were not informed about the voting schedule nor given an opportunity to participate. This experience undermined the democratic values that the organization supposedly represents.

According to Robert’s Rules of Order, which is an established guide for conducting meetings and making group decisions, it's a fundamental right of any member of an organization to have the opportunity to run for leadership roles (Reference: Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised, 11th edition). Unfortunately, this right was overlooked during the recent PTO voting.

Therefore, this petition calls for a re-vote, ensuring that all PTO members are equally aware and given ample time to decide whether they want to run for the board position or not. Transparency and inclusivity should be at the heart of our organization. Let's rectify the oversight and uphold the principles upon which our PTO stands. We aspire for a PTO that embraces each member's voice, ensures equal opportunities, and nurtures a community where everyone's involvement is appreciated and encouraged.

We need your support to make this happen. Please sign this petition to mandate a re-voting for PTO board positions following a proper notification to all members.
