My mother became a victim of a heinous crime perpetrated by Gavin Mcguire, a man now known to be a serial sex predator. and murderer.  In a terrifying ordeal, my mother was brutally attacked and raped, her body thrown into the sea as she feigned death to survive. Heartbreakingly, her assault was by no means an isolated incident.

Within just two weeks of his early release from prison, Mcguire brutally murdered a 16-year-old girl in Kilmarnock. This rapid reoffending period highlights a dire need for change. Public safety must be prioritized, and we owe it to all potential victims to prevent such scary circumstances from repeating themselves.

Our justice system should have measures in place to alert communities of any potential threat, especially when it involves individuals with a history as violent and horrifying as Mcguire's. A system that not only penalizes but also actively mitigates further harm is vital in ensuring the safety of our communities.

We, therefore, urgently call for legislation requiring public notification regarding the release of high-risk individuals such as Gavin Mcguire from prison. This petition seeks to establish transparency, accountability, and protection, so no family has to endure what ours has.  He has a long list of rapes. Attempted rapes. Burglary and battery. and murder.
