I, like many others, am a concerned citizen residing in Parkersburg, WV. The police department in our locality boasts a state-of-the-art gym, funded by the hard-earned tax dollars of residents here, like mine. However, we worry that the Chief of Police, Mathew E. Board, does not meet the necessary physical standards to protect and serve us, as per his sworn promise and as advertised on the City of Parkersburg Police cars.

This concern is not merely theoretical. Victims in the public - including myself - have been unduly affected by alleged negligence and incompetence. We would love to go to the gym regularly in a quest to maintain our health, despite the challenges. Yet we fear for our safety, questioning if Chief Board can provide the requisite physical protection without being able to maintain his own health. We should be given full possession of this gym.

Given the significant role physical strength plays in active duty, most police departments mandate a Police Physical Abilities Test (PAT). We must hold our Chief of Police to the same standard. Hence, we demand that Chief Matthew E. Board be required to take or retake this test to remain in his position.

Let the results of such a test serve as a witness to his physical ability to protect and serve. Stand with us in urging the city to hold those in power accountable for the very standards they're supposed to uphold. We strive for nothing short of fairness and transparency.
