Mandate Options for Blocking Unwanted Political Ads and Mail

Mandate Options for Blocking Unwanted Political Ads and Mail
The Issue
We, the people, find ourselves increasingly powerless to stop the relentless onslaught of political messages from our own government. Whether through unsolicited texts, online ads, TV commercials, or junk mail, we are constantly bombarded with appeals for money, votes, and support. It feels as though our democratic process has turned into a never-ending campaign cycle, where citizens are seen as targets to be exploited rather than constituents to be served. This unchecked harassment has left many of us feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and without recourse.
While we recognize the importance of political communication, it must be conducted with respect for the citizens’ right to choose how and when they are contacted. Millions of Americans endure this deluge of unsolicited messaging, especially during election periods, and it’s time for change.
I urge you to support legislation that gives individuals the right to opt out of these political intrusions.
Specifically:"Do Not Call" Protections: Political messaging should be subject to the same rules as telemarketers. Individuals who add their numbers to the "Do Not Call" list should be free from unsolicited political texts and calls.
Online Ad Blocking: Websites and platforms should provide users with the ability to block political ads, respecting their choice to control the content they encounter.
"Do Not Mail" List for Political Junk Mail: Homeowners should have the right to stop the flood of unsolicited political mail by adding their addresses to a "Do Not Mail" list, preserving their privacy and reducing environmental waste.
This is not just a personal plea, but a call for common-sense reforms that protect the privacy of all citizens. I ask for your support in championing these measures. By signing this petition, we can reclaim our personal space and demand a political process that respects the boundaries of our lives.
Call to Action: We call on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to expand "Do Not Call" protections to include political texts and calls. We urge the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to enforce new rules for political junk mail and online ads. We demand action from Congress to pass legislation that gives citizens the right to opt out of unsolicited political communications.
At the state level, we ask state legislatures and consumer protection agencies to take similar action. Finally, we call on major online advertising platforms to voluntarily allow users to block political ads and restore control over their digital experience.
Together, we can send a powerful message to our representatives and regulators that we demand the right to privacy and respect in political communication.
