Born out of my own personal experience, this cause is deeply important to me, my friends, and my family. We all work in the security industry, often the first ones drawn into emergency situations—before the police or ambulance even arrive. Yet, despite playing such a crucial role, security officers are not officially recognized as first responders. This needs to change. Security officers routinely evaluate security risks and act decisively in a multitude of potentially hazardous situations. In many cases, their quick actions prevent escalation and further harm. According to a study by ASIS International in 2013, security personnel are often the first to respond to incidents in 38.5% of cases, underscoring their essential role. It's high time we recognize Security Officers as first responders, acknowledge their valuable contribution to public safety and ensure they're given the respect and resources that rightfully belong to them.
