Multiple cases nationwide have highlighted the deadly repercussions of police encountering individuals on the autism spectrum without proper training or understanding. The lack of awareness and training among law enforcement communities has led to avoidable tragedies, with the fatal shooting rate of disabled individuals being disturbingly high. According to a study by the Ruderman Family Foundation, up to half of all people killed by law enforcement in the U.S. have a disability, with autism being a common one. It's evident that this issue needs urgent attention and change.

Our petition calls for mandatory mental health and autism awareness training for all police officers.
