I am a resident of Copmanthorpe, York, UK, and like many others in my community, I am struggling with slow internet speeds. This is not just an inconvenience; it's a barrier to vital activities. Our street has no fibre and we have very slow internet speeds that affect people working from home and school children accessing education and online learning.

In today's digital age where everything from work to education relies heavily on the internet, having access to high-speed broadband is not a luxury but a necessity. Yet despite this reality, many areas in our village are still without full fibre connectivity.

According to Ofcom’s Connected Nations 2020 report, around 190,000 UK properties (approximately 0.6%) cannot get decent broadband services – defined as offering download speeds of at least 10 Mbit/s and upload speeds of at least 1 Mbit/s. It's clear that the lack of full fibre installation is not just an issue for our community but for thousands across the country.

We call upon service providers and local authorities to take immediate action on this matter. We demand that full fibre be installed in ALL areas of Copmanthorpe so that every resident can enjoy reliable high-speed internet access necessary for modern life.
