Mandate Free or Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Programs for Pets of Medicare Recipients

The Issue

This petition is deeply personal to me. My parents, like many senior citizens, are animal lovers. Their pets are not just animals that live in their home; they're companions, family members who provide comfort and company during long days and nights. However, the cost of spaying/neutering these beloved pets can be a significant financial burden for those on Medicare.

We believe it's essential to address this issue at a legislative level. We ask that a bill be signed allowing Medicare recipients access to free or low-cost spay/neuter programs for their cats and dogs. This would not only alleviate financial stress but also contribute positively to controlling the pet population.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), millions of healthy cats and dogs are euthanized each year in the United States due to overpopulation issues. Providing affordable spay/neuter services could significantly reduce these numbers.

We urge our lawmakers to consider this proposal seriously - both for the well-being of our senior citizens and their furry companions, as well as contributing towards solving a broader societal issue.

Please sign this petition if you support free or low-cost spay/neuter programs for pets owned by Medicare recipients.
