Mandate Florida to Enforce Child Support Orders Fairly and Consistently

The Issue

I am a resident of the great state of Florida, and I currently face a challenge common to many custodial parents in our community: almost non-existent child support enforcement. Despite court-ordered agreements, my daughter's father consistently fails to pay the correct amount of child support on time. This isn't a singular case; countless custodial parents in Florida suffer through the same ordeal.

In Florida, about 354,000 families received partial or inconsistent child support payments in 2019 alone, according to Florida's Department of Revenue. The struggle of these single-parent families is worsened as they tirelessly attempt to provide for their children amidst the unpaid dues. Inconsistent child support not only lowers the quality of life for these children, but it also places an undue financial burden on custodial parents who tirelessly strive to fulfill both parental roles.

State legislation mandates that child support be paid consistently and in the full amount ordered by the court, yet enforcement often falls short. This petition calls for stricter reinforcement of these laws and improved systems for ensuring that child support rulings are adhered to. This issue is a matter of children's welfare and rights, and custodial parents deserve the support that has been legally designated to them.

We implore the Florida legislature and child support enforcement agencies to take swift and firm action. Let's urge them to make the necessary improvements in child support enforcement mechanisms to ensure all court-ordered child support is fair, reliable, and fully enforceable.

Please sign this petition to protect single parents and their children's rights in Florida. Your support could significantly alleviate the financial burden on thousands of custodial parents and, most importantly, improve the lives of our children.
