My personal journey, like so many others, has been tainted by the pain of not knowing my biological roots. In a world where adoption and non-traditional family structures are increasingly common, many are left in the dark about their true lineage. This ambiguity sows seeds of uncertainty that can grow into mental health and substance abuse disorders due to identity crises. It's a harsh reality that everyone else seems to know who we truly are before we even do.

It's time to change this. We propose a law that mandates the federal government, in all states, to provide DNA tests to every person when they turn 20, revealing their biological parentage. Free maternity and paternity test just like a flu shot. This step towards transparency ensures that everyone has the right to know their biological roots, and can play a crucial role in preventing identity-related psychological issues.

A study by the American Psychological Association has demonstrated a positive correlation between knowledge of biological origins and secure identity development (APA, 2012), underscoring the importance of this issue.

No one should be denied the fundamental human right to know their genetics, their medical history, and their heritage. Let us remind lawmakers of our moral obligation to protect and affirm our identities.
