Mandate Factual Evidence Requirements for Child Removal by Social Services

Mandate Factual Evidence Requirements for Child Removal by Social Services
The Issue
Petition for Reform: Protecting Families from Unjust Actions by Social Services
Our family, like so many others, is under immense stress due to the actions of Social Services in Bromley, UK. A concern we raised, encouraged by social services themselves, has been weaponized against us. What began as a simple complaint has escalated into a retaliatory situation, with our social worker now unjustly pursuing legal action to remove our children from their safe, nurturing home. Shockingly, there is no evidence of mistreatment or abuse.
There's no smoke without fire you say? Well one of the Children in question has SEND, with disabilities and support sorted from social care was requested & voluntary. It has been many years and we still haven't been allocated a disability social worker.
This is not an isolated case. It reflects a systemic issue that affects countless families in our community. The need for reform and a more judicious evaluation process is clear and urgent.
According to a UK Parliament report (Children Act 1989: Local Authority Duties, 2013), over 68,000 children were in care, with the majority removed due to alleged abuse or neglect. While protecting children from harm must always be the top priority, decisions of such gravity should require incontrovertible evidence. This evidence must be rigorously reviewed by a judge—not simply magistrates—to ensure that the decision is just and necessary.
Our case highlights the dire need to re-evaluate the current laws and procedures that allow social services to take drastic actions based on false or unverified referrals. Families should not have to suffer due to unproven allegations. We believe it is essential to implement a system where the removal of children is based solely on verified, factual evidence, reviewed by impartial judicial authorities.
We urge the UK Government and relevant authorities to make these critical changes to safeguard the welfare of children while respecting and protecting the rights of families.
Please sign this petition if you believe in creating a fair, just, and evidence-based system that truly prioritizes the well-being of children and families.
