Mandate Facial Piercings in Moderation at All Fricker’s Locations
Mandate Facial Piercings in Moderation at All Fricker’s Locations
The Issue
I have been a dedicated employee of the Fricker's company for almost eight years. Throughout this time, my nose ring has been a part of my identity, never causing any issues or complaints from customers. It has not affected the quality of service I provide, which my loyal customers can attest to. However, recently it has become an issue with management.
Fricker's is known for its welcoming atmosphere and diverse clientele in Dayton, OH. Yet its policy on facial piercings seems to contradict this inclusive image. The discomfort and pain that comes from removing and reinserting my nose piercing before every shift is unnecessary when it does not impact my ability to perform my job effectively.
Facial piercings are becoming more accepted in professional settings across America. According to a 2018 study by Zippia, 61% of HR professionals said a non-offensive visible tattoo or piercing would not affect their decision when hiring (Zippia). It's time for Fricker’s to modernize their policies in line with societal norms and respect individuality among employees.
We urge Fricker’s management to revise their policy on facial piercings and allow them in moderation across all locations. This change will reflect the progressive values our society holds today while respecting the personal choices of its employees without compromising service quality.
Please sign this petition if you believe that an individual's ability should be valued over appearance-based judgments.
