Mandate Extended Parking Hours for Public Transport Commuters at Watergardens Station

The issue

STOP PAYING YOUR PARKING FINES AT WATERGARDENS TRAIN STATION!

Do you catch the train at Watergardens? Is the gravel car park full? Are you left with no choice but to park in 4 hour? Does council keep fining you? Then sign this petition.

I am a regular commuter using the public transport system in Taylors Lakes VIC, Australia. My daily routine involves taking the 8:00am train from the Watergardens Train Station. A notable issue arises every day, however, when I get to the station only to find that the parking allocated for train commuters is full. I am left with no other option but to resort to the nearby 4-hour parking at Watergardens Shopping Centre, which is highly inconvenient for us, the public transport users.

This isn't a problem faced by me alone in Taylors Lakes; numerous commuters find themselves in the exact same predicament daily, and we need a solution. Public transport data reports show that approximately 1.5 million passengers used the Watergardens Train Station in 2019 alone. This number has similar potential to rise in the coming years and so do the parking issues related to it. Establishing a parking system that allows for longer than the current 4 hours is no longer a convenience, but a necessity.

We appeal to the local council to revise the parking policy and permitted time frames at the Watergardens Train Station, making it more accommodating for daily commuters like us. Please listen to the sincere needs of the public transport commuters and act accordingly: improve the daily commute by extending the parking duration at the station. Your signing and support of this petition can help bring about this essential change. Let the voices and concerns of Taylors Lakes public transport commuters be heard. Please sign and share this petition now as I intend to take this matter to court.
