The ongoing mental health crisis in the United States has personally affected my family, my community and countless others. With a dire lack of effective treatments, a severe shortage in providers with over 50% of professionals facing burnout, we can no longer stand by as the situation exacerbates the issues affecting our families, communities, and overall economy.

Ketamine has been an FDA approved medication for over 50 years. Ketamine  infusions have been provided for over 25 years showing consistent efficacy  through real world evidence offering significant relief for individuals suffering from mental health conditions, pain, and neurologic conditions. Despite this compelling evidence, state, commercial, and federal payers currently fail to cover this potentially life-saving treatment.

An estimated 1 in 5 adults in the U.S.—43.8 million, or 18.5%—experiences mental illness in a given year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. These are our families, our friends, our neighbors. With the proven potential of ketamine infusions to contribute positively to their wellbeing, it is an ongoing travesty that so many individuals are denied the chance of relief due to financial constraints.

This petition aims to mandate all state, commercial, and federal payers to cover ketamine infusions, expanding access to those suffering from untreated mental health, pain, and neurologic conditions. More inclusively, it is a call for our elected and appointed officials to recognize the evidence and to act on ensuring equitable mental health treatment for all.
