The Issue

Our beloved furry companions are at risk, and it's time for us to take action. The increasing presence of grass seeds, particularly foxtail seeds, in our local parks poses a significant threat to our dogs. These seeds can easily lodge into their ears, paws, and other parts of the body, causing excruciating pain and leading to substantial veterinary bills.

Foxtails, primarily found in grassy areas, are barbed seeds that can penetrate skin and move through the body, resulting in serious infections, abscesses, and in severe cases, requiring surgical intervention. This not only puts a financial strain on pet owners but also subjects our pets to unnecessary suffering.

Local authorities have a responsibility to maintain public spaces that are safe for all residents, including our pets. Unfortunately, the neglect in managing these grass seeds has resulted in preventable harm to our furry friends. By cutting and properly managing the grass, the city council can significantly reduce these risks.

We call upon our local council to adopt a proactive approach by scheduling regular maintenance of park areas to remove these harmful seeds. This initiative requires hiring adequate personnel and allocating the necessary resources to ensure all parks in our district are safe for dogs.

Let's protect our pets and ensure that parks remain a haven for play, not a danger zone. Please sign this petition to urge our city council to take immediate action in safeguarding our parks from the threat of foxtail seeds. Your voice matters and can help make our community a safe environment for all living beings.
