Mandate Captions and Audio Descriptions in All Movie Theaters

Mandate Captions and Audio Descriptions in All Movie Theaters
The Issue
I am a movie enthusiast with hearing aids. My love for cinema is often marred by the struggle to understand what characters are saying on screen. It's disheartening that I have to wait until movies are released on DVD or streaming platforms to fully enjoy them, as only then do they come with captions.
The situation is even worse for those who are blind or visually impaired. Without audio descriptions, they miss out on important visual elements of the film.
This isn't just about me; it's about the 466 million people worldwide who have disabling hearing loss (World Health Organization) and the 285 million people who are visually impaired (World Blind Union). We all deserve equal access to cultural experiences like going to the movies.
We're calling for legislation that mandates all movie theaters provide captions for hard of hearing/deaf individuals and audio description sections for blind/visually impaired patrons. This will not only enhance our movie-going experience but also promote inclusiveness and equality in entertainment spaces.
Please sign this petition if you believe everyone deserves an equal opportunity to enjoy cinema, regardless of their sensory abilities or hearing disabilites. Contact Joe Biden Tell him to sign this Bill!
