I am a student athlete with aspirations of playing Division 1 softball in college. Over the years, I've seen my peers and myself suffer from avoidable injuries due to the lack of professional medical supervision. This is why we need to mandate athletic trainers in all Frederick County public schools.

Athletic trainers play a crucial role in preventing, diagnosing, and treating injuries among student athletes. In addition, they are trained to recognize symptoms of serious conditions that can occur during strenuous activities such as concussions or heat stroke.

Despite these benefits, many schools within our county do not have an athletic trainer on staff at all times. This leaves student athletes like me at risk for untreated injuries which could potentially jeopardize our future sports careers and overall health.

By requiring all Frederick County public schools to have an athletic trainer on staff at all times, we can ensure that every student athlete has access to immediate medical care when needed. This will not only protect us from preventable injuries but also promote a safer sports culture within our community.
