Mandate "Amy Alert" on All Cruise Lines

Mandate "Amy Alert" on All Cruise Lines
The Issue
“Amy Alert” is a simple, but lifesaving emergency alert system. When someone goes missing on a cruise ship, there should be an immediate, ship-wide alert and response. Just like an Amber Alert on land.
This movement is called “Amy Alert” because of Amy Lynn Bradley who went missing on a Royal Caribbean Cruise in 1998. Amy’s disappearance exposed the dangerous lack of safety protocols on cruise ships. Shockingly, those failures still exist today. 27 years later and Amy’s case still remains open and her family still demands answers.
Right now, cruise ships do not have:
• A mandatory alert system
• A required shipwide lockdown
• A legal timeline for searching
• Transparent reporting protocols
• A way to notify passengers immediately
• True accountability when someone disappears
This means a person can vanish at sea with no urgent response, and families are left helpless.
We cannot allow this to continue.
Amy Alert would require:
• An instant alert to all passengers and crew through the cruise app
• The missing person’s photo and last known location broadcasted on cruise apps, ship TVs and PA systems
• An immediate lockdown — no one leaves the ship
• A full-ship search of cabins, hallways, public areas, and restricted spaces
• Man-overboard scans and water searches if necessary
• Automatic reporting to the Coast Guard and maritime authorities
Statistically, the first few hours in any disappearance case are critical.According to the International Cruise Victims Association, numerous passengers have vanished from cruises over the years, often under mysterious circumstances.
Mandating Amy Alert would improve response times for any potential crises onboard. It would prevent prolonged uncertainties for families and even save lives. Although the outcome might still have been tragic, a swift alert system would have saved the Bradley family years of heartache, conspiracy theories, and unanswered questions.
Amy Alert is about prevention, protection, and accountability. We Need Lawmakers to Act. Millions of people travel by cruise every year.
Every single day without this system, puts lives at risk.
It’s time for change.
It’s time for action.
It’s time for Amy Alert.
