Countless Americans count pets as part of their family, with approximately 67% of U.S. households, or about 85 million families, owning a pet according to the 2019-2020 National Pet Owners Survey. Despite this fact, many public buildings across the country and in Concord, CA, remain inaccessible to animals. This exclusion poses inconveniences and challenges to pet owners and service animals' handlers. We request the Concord city council to mandate all public buildings to be animal friendly. This means remodeling facilities to cater to animals' needs, implementing reasonable rules and regulations to maintain order, and ensuring pets and service animals can accompany their owners without hindrance. It's a step towards more inclusive communities that respect diverse lifestyles. There have been many many times where i have had to leave my dog or dogs in the hot car while going into a store because they do not allow animals. With every place being animal friendly less pets would be passing away of heat strokes or thirst.
