Mandate All Health Insurance Companies to Operate on a Non-Profit Basis

The Issue

As a practicing physician, I witness daily the gross healthcare inequalities perpetuated by corporate greed. Thousands, if not millions of patients, are denied the care they need due to unaffordable premiums and exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses necessitated by for-profit insurers. Care is often delayed by non-physicians dictating treatment requirements and this gravely affects both the individuals' health and the integrity of our healthcare system.

According to the Commonwealth Fund, 45% of adults in America have inadequate health insurance. These individuals frequently forego necessary healthcare, leading to devastating and often costly health outcomes (Commonwealth Fund, 2020). Meanwhile, top executives in major for-profit health insurance companies pocket annual salaries amounting to millions, obscuring the true cost of healthcare and widening the gap between those who can afford care and those who cannot.

It's time we champion a healthier society, not wealthier corporations. Let's urge our lawmakers to pass legislation requiring all health insurance companies to operate on a non-profit basis. This is not only a step towards more efficient healthcare expenditure; it is a step towards justice for every American denied good health due to financial constraints.

Please sign this petition to lend your voice to this crucial cause. Let's reshape healthcare into the equitable system it should be, rather than a lucrative business feeding corporate greed.
