Mandate 30 Minutes of Nap Time for Students to Recharge their Minds

The Issue

Many students, myself included, face the serious problem of maintaining focus and staying alert during classes that run back-to-back. This scenario causes frustration and exhaustion by the end of the day. By the time we reach our final classes, our ability to absorb important information is adversely affected. Research supports the idea that a short nap can refresh the mind and increase productivity. According to a study conducted by NASA, a brief nap of 26 minutes can improve performance by as much as 34% and overall alertness by up to 54% (NASA, 1995). Therefore, by implementing a 30-minute nap time in the school schedule, students would be provided with a much-needed mental break to recharge before continuing with their learning activities. This could enhance the overall academic performance and well being of students. Please sign this petition to support the need for mandated nap times in our schools. Students would greatly appreciate your contribution to creating a more mentally accommodating learning environment.
