Students of MMU I'm going to keep this short, snappy and to the point.

Regardless of what year group we are in right now ,and where we reside : home or at uni accommodation, we have all experienced and still are experiencing the consequences of Covid, lockdown ect. There's no doubt that it has impacted us financially and especially our mental health.

As we are all aware, the funds on our met cards cannot be used anywhere except on university campus, online on the union website and the Gtec store ;which lets face it, doesn't have much variety. When universities were open we were able to use our met card or food and drink in between lectures which for some people would be the only food that they would consume for the whole day or use the funds for printing. 

At least 80% of us are working from home which gives us limited access to  the funds on  our met cards (and therefore these services named below taken from MMU site) are useless.

" The Met card is a cashless card that can be used to pay for goods and services online and around campus. You can spend your credit in a variety of places including:

• Blackwells Online University Bookshop
• Getech Online 
• Manchester Met food and drink outlets
• Manchester Met Campus Accommodation
• Manchester Met Printer Credit
• Sports and leisure facilities at the Platt Lane Sports Complex,
• Aquatics Centre and Sugden Sports Centre
• The Student Union " 

Wouldn't it be better if we could cash out our met cards to our student bank accounts and use it on actual things we need in order to be successful whilst working from home ? 

We are the students that (either/and/or) :

• have loaded our own money on to the met card 
• been awarded scholarships / student support package or bursaries  from the university due to our grades achieved at sixth form/college or due to our lower income household in which amounts have been loaded to the met card.

We are entitled to the funds that are on our met card.

So it begs the question, especially due to the covid climate why are we not given the opportunity to cash these funds out to help our studies remotely off campus ?

We can all agree that we have already struggled enough this year. Student services, finance team, student hub, personal tutors have been unhelpful. This is our university, we are the students so ,now its our turn to change things. We as students are the ones who are paying a bare minimum of 9k a year for service that is letting us down. 

My aim is to reach a substantial amount of signatures in order for the met card terms to change to support us whilst working from home.
