We live in a beautiful little upstate town...but with high taxes and an aging economy, many people are moving to live elsewhere. Our local economy depends mainly on tourism, and with the more tourism, the lower the taxes. 

Enter: Smart use of Short-Term Rentals like Air BnB, Tentrr, and HomeAway

Not only do tourists who stay overnight spend $216/day on average (much of which stays in the town!) compared to $51/day for daytime tourists, but the use of Short-Term Rentals also helps many local residents to meet their tax and mortgage payments, making sure this remains a vibrant town, not one scarred by abandoned homes and disuse. 

Short-Term Rentals are good for lowering taxes, good for the economy, helps our residents to meet their bills, and it helps support a secondary economy (house-cleaners, landscapers, lawn mowing companies, painters, repair-men). 

Tell the Mamakating Town Board to include SUPPORTIVE legislation for Short-Term Rentals: one without limits on days that can be rented, one without unnecessary building inspections, and one without the small allowance of permits as currently drafted.
