The Issue

Dear fellow citizens,

We are writing to draw your attention to a pressing issue that affects both animals and people in Malta. Almost every day, there are fireworks shows taking place, even during daily hours. While these displays may seem like harmless entertainment, they can cause serious harm to our environment and wildlife.

Animals such as dogs, cats, horses, birds, and many others are greatly affected by these fireworks. They can suffer from disorientation, heart attacks, and other severe traumas, which can lead to death. Similarly, people who suffer from PTSD can also be seriously affected by the fireworks. Moreover, fireworks release toxic substances in the air, and natural landscapes often get burned as a result. Let's remember that Malta is an essential stopping point between Europe and Africa for many migratory birds.

We are concerned about the impact of these fireworks on our environment. Malta already suffers from a dramatic lack of flora and fauna, and it seems that some fireworks enthusiasts do not care about the impact they have. It is also unclear why so many fireworks are needed, especially when local councils could provide alternative forms of cultural entertainment. We wonder if there is an agreement between the local councils and the fireworks factories that smells of mafia.

Recently, we have noticed an increase in the number of fireworks shows, and it has become an almost daily occurrence. This is not only harmful to our environment and wildlife, but it is also wasteful of public money.

We urge you to open your eyes to the impact of these fireworks and to consider the importance of preserving our flora and fauna. We believe that these issues are far more important than entertainment, especially when it is becoming an everyday occurrence. We hope that you will take our concerns seriously and work towards finding a solution that benefits both our environment and our community.
