concrete skatepark, maldon, prom

The Issue

Maldon promenade park has many facilities for people of all ages and is often receiving upgrades. But the one thing the extreme sports community has asked for, for years now is a new skate park... this has been ignored for some time now with the odd bit of artwork being placed on the ramps.
We need a modernised new concrete park as the current one is dangerous and out dated, the floor being crusty, old and very harsh to land on. This can cause severe injuries compared to a smooth concrete skate park (South Woodham Ferrers or Tiptree are great examples of smooth skateparks which receive lots of usage and have stayed reliable through all their years of use). To add to this, the ramps and grind ledges are rusty, the tarmac that joins onto the transitions is old and corroded, also many of the ramps are steep and small (making it hard for newcomers to learn anything on).
Users of the park often have problems with people walking straight through causing injuries to them self and users of the park, a fence surrounding the park is also greatly needed to stop this.
if maldon district council did take action and make this happen I do believe the skate park would more than pay for its self with people paying for parking and the food/drink facilities at maldon promenade park.
it is my opinion and the opinion of many others that something needs to be done to create a more friendly and welcoming place for people of all ages to learn and get creative in their chosen sports.

I believe the whole park needs to be removed and replaced with a concrete upgrade consisting of jump boxes, various sized coping quarter pipes, coping grind boxes, concrete flat banks and metal practice rails.
This is very important to me as someone who has been involved in a tight knit community of like minded individuals, who share the love of a sport that is often not thought about. I feel it’s time something was done so that we can flourish as a community.
I hope all of this is taken into consideration. Thank you for taking the time to read.
