Stop PEOPLE from VIETNAM enter Australia RISK of rabies, cholera and trichinellosis. We Australians care for health issue in our country
The Issue
Dogs are usually tightly packed into cages where they are unable to stand up or turn around. They are often sick and injured from rough handling, and not provided with any food or water throughout the duration of the journey, which takes several days, starting in northern Thailand, to the final destination in Thanh Hoa, central Vietnam–a distance of around 700 km (about 435 miles) or more. Many dogs die from suffocation, dehydration, disease, or heatstroke long before they reach their final destination.
The smell of dog and filth permeated the whole room along with frantic, high-pitched barking from the hundreds of dogs crammed into the large metal caged room.
Grabbing one dog by the throat, the four men dragged it to a contraption at the back of the room, where one of them attached a tube to small buckets full of rice. He then pushed the other end of the pipe down the dog’s throat as the fourth man pulled down hard on a pump, forcing rice into the dog’s stomach. Dogs are force-fed to increase their weight, so that their market value will be higher when they are sold.
Therefore, we are appalled and outraged at the current practice of slaughtering dogs in your country Mr President (Truong Tan Sang). The human consumption of these loving, innocent creatures are horrified and evil.
The cruelty that most of these dogs face during the slaughter is unimaginable – being beaten and then skinned alive – supposedly to tenderize the meat and the false belief that the adrenaline being released during their painful death enhances the flavours of the meat.
I know that Vietnam is a popular tourist destination and has developed rapidly over the years. Why would Vietnam want to tarnish their public image and loose tourist revenue due to this barbaric practice?
We called it a house of horrors would be no overstatement. However, this is the reality of the dog meat industry in Vietnam.
According to Vietnam's Department of Animal Health, at its peak, besides the cruelty, the illegal dog trade poses significant risk of rabies and other diseases such as cholera and trichinellosis.
Let us make sure that Malcolm Turnbull feels thousands of eyes watching his next move on this health issues.
- Please STOP people from Vietnam enter Australia for (Travelling; Education; Visit relaltives or any other business reasons) due to Rabies and other disease from eating dogs in Vietnam.
It is beyond a doubt that this issue is a top priority for the community.
PM Malcolm Turnbull, PLEASE talk to President of Vietnam (Truong Tan Sang) on these serious matters. The whole world is watching you and supports you all the way.
