Making Cell Phone Providers Be Fair

The Issue

I was a "valued cusomter" of T-Mobile for over four years. I spent $8955.43 for cell phones and services over that period of time. However, I had issues with reception in my home most of that time. In July of 2011, a month before my stepsons 12th birthday, we decided to change carriers in hopes of having better reception in our home. Once he turned 12 he was going to be able to stay at home alone and cell reception is a must. T-Mobile was not helpful in resolving the issue so we left. Prior to signing up for new services, I called to confirm with T-Mobile that I was NOT under contract which they confirmed. They have since stated that I AM under "agreement". I do not know what the legal difference is and they cannot explain it. I was a paying customer for over 4 years, never missed a payment, and I get sent to collection because they cannot provide the service they accept payment for?  When you look at your monthly statements we are getting taken advantage of with fee's.

Consumers should have the right to change providers without penelaty or fee. "Early Termination" fees are excessive and injust as are many of the fees charged by cell providers.  If they want to keep OUR business it should by providing quality products and service not by binding contracts that are unfair and serve only the cell companies.
