ZERO INTEGRITY PLANNING - that's what West Hollywood's Zoning Improvement Program has become. This program proposes changes to the zoning laws that would enable developers to demolish existing homes and apartment complexes to construct over-sized buildings, out of scale for our small streets and our small city.  This so-called "improvement" is up-zoning that is a form of red-lining, impacting all residents of our community. 

West Hollywood is known for its vibrant neighborhoods and diverse community. However, the Zoning Improvement Program threatens to erode the very fabric that makes this city unique. The construction of multi-unit buildings in place of small scale apartments and houses on narrow streets will lead to increased congestion, an overstretching of public resources, and a drastic change in our community's character. We cannot stand by and watch as the identity of West Hollywood is compromised for the sake of profit-driven development.

Furthermore, the displacement caused by these developments will disproportionately affect low- and moderate-income families who rely on stabilized housing to remain within the community they call home. These zoning changes will pave the way for more expensive housing options, driving rental prices up and forcing many long-time residents out of the area.

We need to stand together to preserve the integrity of our neighborhoods.

We want City Council to listen to the residents of this city.  

By changing the focus of the Zoning Improvement Program, we can ensure that West Hollywood remains a city where all its residents can thrive without the fear of being displaced. Call on West Hollywood City Council to reconsider these changes, to put the community before developers, and to maintain our city's diversity and charm.
