Make YouTube More Accessible for Liivid

The Issue

My name is Liivid. I am an avid user of YouTube, but I have found that the platform is not as accessible as it could be for me and many others. There are several features that could be improved to make the experience more inclusive and enjoyable for all users.

Firstly, closed captions need to be more accurate and available in more languages. According to a study by Oregon State University, accurate subtitles can improve comprehension and engagement for all viewers, not just those who rely on them due to hearing impairments.

Secondly, there should be better content filtering options so that users can customize their viewing experience according to their preferences. This would allow people like me who have specific interests or sensitivities to curate our own content without being bombarded by irrelevant or potentially distressing videos.

Lastly, there should be stricter regulations on harmful content such as hate speech or misinformation. The Pew Research Center reports that 64% of users have encountered videos that were obviously false or misleading at least once while using YouTube.

By implementing these changes, YouTube can become a safer and more inclusive platform for everyone. Please sign this petition if you agree with these proposed improvements.
