Good afternoon,

I hope you have had a wonderful week.

As I walked to the station along a recently “refurbished” street in our neighbourhood the other day, I was reminded that once again how hard we make the simple act of crossing our own streets.

This street is 1,300metres long, and yet there is not a single place that prioritises local people walking over those driving through, other than at either end. The street and neighbourhood is essentially severed in two. The carriageway has been recently resurfaced and yet the walking experience remains extremely poor and unsafe.

There  are a few pedestrian “refuges” but those are too shallow if you are pushing your child in a buggy and are deeply unwelcoming for children and more vulnerable adults.

A simple zebra design would make such a difference. We can and must do better.

Thank for your support and please share this petition.

Have a wonderful weekend.
