Dear Supporter,
I went for a walk this morning, partly along our local mini high street. It's a street we as a family use lots, but it always surprises me how difficult it is to simply cross the street. And as the nights draw in and Winter approaches, our streets only move further against walking safely and without fear.
It is 250 metres between pedestrian crossings on this street, but just 10 metres separates the two sides of the street. Should we really be expected to walk 250 metres just to cross such a narrow street? For many of us 250-metres is a simple 3-4 minute walk, but for many in our community the extra 250-metres can be the difference between not even making the trip at all. We can do better; other countries already do.
Please continue to support this petition to humanise our streets and prioritise local people walking by sharing this petition with your friends, families, work, schools and social groups.
Best wishes
Andrew
