Council seems keen to tick-off changes for Turramurra Tower – doubling the height and selling our community land to the developer. This would give a large $$ increase for the developer. What’s in it for us? What do we get back for this huge gift?
Council is negotiating with the developer for some things. Some are good (like adding a lane to the Kissing point rd and Highway intersection). But we don’t want another community centre at Turramurra shops! Why 10 community centres - They’re like pizza shops (see diagram)
The developer wants to build the absolute minimum number of parking spaces for their new apartments – I don’t think this is enough!
Here’s what AI says about parking:
“In outer suburban Sydney… 0.5 parking spaces per bedroom is considered insufficient... Shortfalls on-site lead to "parking rage" and clogged suburban streets, which councils increasingly manage with stringent permit restrictions… Local councils in outer suburbs typically require much more parking.”
Parasites. Too often apartment developments take more than they give. They are like parasites – taking prime locations near our stations and not giving enough back, clogging our streets and parking. Families won’t be able park in-front of their own homes anymore. Commuters can’t park near the station and will drive to work instead.
If we get this developer to build more parking, council could allocate more as commuter parking!
Did you realise that certain greenie-ish people in the council and the council bureaucracy want as little parking as possible! They think that since cars are bad, we need to get rid of parking. Council often stops developers from building the parking that the developer wants to build!
We are so lucky in Turramurra because we almost have enough parking – but once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
