The Issue

In October 2025, I went viral on TikTok, an experience that should have been exhilarating but instead turned into a nightmare. The influx of hate and trolling was overwhelming, with countless bully accounts targeting me relentlessly. I am not alone in this experience; many users face similar harassment daily, which turns TikTok from a community of creativity and expression into a breeding ground for negativity and distress.

TikTok must enforce stricter measures to close bully accounts and crack down on fake profiles that misuse the platform. By focusing solely on numbers, they overlook the essential elements of user safety and mental well-being. The current reporting system often feels inadequate, failing to offer timely and effective solutions to those victimized by online bullies and impersonators.

I propose that TikTok implement stricter verification processes to authenticate users and monitor suspicious activities regularly. Additionally, TikTok should ban anyone from creating new accounts if they have previously run a bully or fake account. This measure could drastically reduce the number of harmful profiles that proliferate on the platform, making it safer for everyone.

According to research, over 64% of teenagers have experienced some form of cyberbullying on social media, with platforms like TikTok being major contributors to this alarming statistic. It is imperative for social media giants to prioritize the safety of their users over engagement metrics.

Let us encourage TikTok to take responsibility and foster a safe and supportive online environment where creativity can thrive without fear. Please sign this petition to urge TikTok to take action and eliminate bully and fake accounts for a safer platform. Your support can play a vital role in pushing towards significant change.
