Make the Town of Greece a Second Amendment Sanctuary Jurisdiction

Make the Town of Greece a Second Amendment Sanctuary Jurisdiction

The Issue

On July 1st, Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law an unconstitutional piece of legislation that prevents law abiding firearm owners from exercising their right to carry in most public settings- particularly those deserving the most protection from responsible gun owners who are ready and happy to defend themselves, their family, and the livelihoods of hardworking New Yorkers.

Under this new legislation, exercising the right to concealed carry is no longer allowed in our places of worship which is particularly egregious as churches have been consistently targeted by those who wish to do harm- this leaves the faithful population of New York helpless to defend against such threats without becoming felons in the process.

If the Governor of New York has decided to outright ignore the recent Supreme Court decision that declared the right to carry as being protected under the Second Amendment, then we have a responsibility to ignore this unjust legislation and allow our citizens to exercise their rights freely and openly. We ask that the Town of Greece openly become a Second Amendment Sanctuary and allow for pistol permit holders to carry in places of worship and private businesses (with the exception of private businesses that have expressly stated internal policies against carrying).

Pistol Permit holders already have to undergo an extensive background check process which can take up to 19 months in Monroe County. We ask that you defend our rights and allow for these law abiding citizens to exercise their rights- haven’t we already done enough to prove ourselves? If this battle is lost, then the right to bear arms is all but dead in the State of New York.

Town Supervisor Bill Reilich, we humbly ask for your support as we continue to defend our Second Amendment rights
