Make the Junction of Edgware Road, Camrose Avenue & Deansbrook Road Safer for Pedestrians

Make the Junction of Edgware Road, Camrose Avenue & Deansbrook Road Safer for Pedestrians
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are calling on Transport for London (TfL), with support from Harrow Council and Barnet Council, to urgently improve pedestrian safety at the dangerous junction where Edgware Road (A5) meets Camrose Avenue and Deansbrook Road in Edgware.
This busy intersection currently lacks a safe and reliable pedestrian crossing system. While traffic lights are in place, they change too quickly and simultaneously across all directions, making it confusing and unsafe for pedestrians especially children, elderly residents, parents with prams and those with mobility issues.
Every day, hundreds of residents navigate this junction with anxiety, risking their safety just to cross the road. There have already been near-miss incidents and without urgent changes, it's only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs.
We are asking TfL to:
- Install a clearly signalled pedestrian only crossing phase at this junction, where all vehicle traffic is stopped to allow safe passage.
- Extend pedestrian crossing times to give residents enough time to cross safely.
- Ensure clear and visible markings and countdown timers on all pedestrian lights.
- Conduct a traffic safety review at the junction in collaboration with Harrow and Barnet councils.
This issue affects residents from both Harrow and Barnet boroughs and it is essential for both councils to actively support this call to action and work with TfL to prioritise the safety of our community.
Let’s not wait for a tragedy to take action. Sign this petition and help us make this crossing safer for everyone.
