Currently, the intersection of South Street and Main Street (Route 10) in Easthampton, MA is the most dangerous in the city with 75 accidents over the past 20 years. Route 10 is a well-traveled state corridor for resident travel from many surrounding communities as well as business transport. Currently, many local residents utilize alternative routes in order to avoid this dangerous intersection but this is not a solution. This year, South Street will become a new and significant route, for both residents and school buses, to the new Mountain View School for all students in pre-K through 8th grade.  We do not want to see an increase in the number of accidents, especially with our children involved, before action is taken. The time is NOW for the State of Massachusetts to approve funding and install a traffic light at this intersection. 100s of people have signed in-person thus far...let's add to the total with this online petition!
